hair clipperHair clippers are often used in hairdressing salons and at home. They help the hairdresser create an original image for the client, and at home they help him do a simple hairstyle, saving the family budget.

How does a hair clipper work?

The internal structure and operating principle of the devices depends on the type of their engine:

  • vibration;
  • rotary

Vibration motor is based on the operation of an electromagnetic coil, which, under the influence of alternating current, creates vibration of a pendulum that moves the blades of the machine. The power of such motors is 9–15 W, which ensures quiet operation, but does not allow them to operate for more than 20 minutes.

Main parts (Fig. 1):

  • Cutting block (1).
  • Pendulum (2).
  • Transformer coil (3).
  • Transformer (4).

Rotary tools contain an electric motor with an eccentric that drives the blades. They are distinguished by high power, up to 50 W. Additionally, a rechargeable battery can be built-in.

What parts does a hair clipper consist of?

  • The cutting unit consists of two knives, one of which is stationary.
  • Inside the body there is a motor of the device, which ensures the movement of the machine knife.
  • Some models are equipped with rechargeable batteries, so a charging unit is included in the package.

Important!

Vibrating devices have non-removable knives, which makes them difficult to clean.

What materials can a hair clipper be made from?

  • Knives are made of ceramics, stainless steel with titanium, diamond or carbon coating.
  • The titanium coating is hypoallergenic, which eliminates skin irritation.
  • Carbon and diamond coatings provide precise cutting of coarse hair, both dry and wet.
  • Steel parts may become hot during operation. The ceramic coating does not heat up and keeps knives sharp longer than steel, but is quite fragile and can crack if dropped.

The body of hair clippers is mainly made of plastic. For ease of use, the handle is equipped with rubberized inserts.
