Types of air conditioners
The air conditioner allows you to create comfortable climatic conditions in the room. There are many different types of this device. Air conditioners are divided depending on the room where they will be used, design and other things.

Types of air conditioners by application
Household
Designed for residential premises with an area of up to 90 square meters. m. It has additional functions and an attractive appearance. In addition to cooling, they can be used to heat air. This removes bacteria and microorganisms.
Semi-industrial
A distinctive feature of this type is its high power. The unit can operate continuously for several days. The internal filling is reliable. Such air conditioners are used in public and industrial premises, the area of which does not exceed 300 square meters. m.
Industrial
The unit has a more complex structure. Has a huge level of performance. Used in factories and workshops with large areas.
Types of air conditioners by design features
Monoblock
This is an air conditioning unit in which all units are located in one housing. Monoblock ones are divided into several types, including window, floor and mobile. The advantage is simplicity of design and reduced work, when communication systems are laid.
Split systems
It is a common type of unit, which includes an outdoor and indoor unit. Everything is connected to each other by an electrical cable and a pipeline filled with freon. The internal part is installed indoors in any suitable place, while the external part is fixed outside. The split system allows you to create a uniform mode of maintaining an optimal climate.
Reference! The outdoor unit includes a compressor that allows you to reduce the noise level during operation.
Types and features of household air conditioners
Wall-mounted air conditioners (split systems)
Among household structures, this type is the most popular. It is the simplest option for home use. Can be placed in any living space. The internal part of the unit is mounted in the upper part of the wall, the external unit is mounted under the window from the outside. This allows you to reduce the length of communications between blocks. One of the advantages is the low noise level when the device operates.
Mobile air conditioners
The peculiarity is that there is no need to install the monoblock to the structures in the room. The mobile model is placed on the floor and brought out through the window to the street. Such a device is also called floor-standing. Often used in rental premises or temporary buildings.
Multi split systems
It is one of the types of split systems. It features the ability to connect several indoor units to one outdoor unit. This allows you not to disturb the architecture of the building. It becomes an ideal option when it is impossible to mount several external parts of the unit. The kit can include a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 indoor units of the same type. If this is a semi-industrial type, then you can connect blocks of different types. There may also be more than 4 of them in the set.
Duct air conditioners
The interior of this view is hidden from view by a suspended ceiling. To distribute air flows in the room, systems of thermally insulated hidden channels are used. A distinctive feature of such units is that they can supply fresh air. They also fully combine the functions of an air conditioner and ventilate the room. Thanks to the design features, the optimal climate is maintained in several rooms at once. It is important that the unit has an air heating device in winter.
Monoblock air conditioners
It has already been noted that it is a single unit, which contains all the necessary components for high-quality air conditioning of the room. There is no external element. Therefore, this option will not spoil the facade of the building; externally it will remain unchanged. This feature is relevant for houses recognized as historical value. Monoblock systems are simply installed, often independently, without resorting to specialists.
Types and features of semi-industrial air conditioners
Cassette air conditioners
The internal part of the system is built into the suspended ceiling. A decorative panel with several air duct openings protrudes into the room. They are additionally equipped with special blinds with the ability to direct air flows. The air conditioner easily fits into any style of room. The air is distributed in all directions, which allows you to evenly distribute air flow throughout the room.
Column air conditioners
They are characterized by high productivity. Suitable for rooms with a large area, where there are no requirements for the interior and where there is a need to be located next to the air conditioner. Otherwise, there is a risk of hypothermia. Columned ones allow you to create powerful air flows. They can quickly create the required temperature.
Wall-mounted ceiling air conditioners
Also called universal. They can successfully replace a cassette device if there is no suspended ceiling or there is a unique interior in the room. The unit is placed on the wall near the floor to allow air flow to move upward. Can be installed on the ceiling near the wall. In this case, the flow propagation will be directed horizontally along the ceiling. There are models with the ability to distribute air over several flows, each of which is regulated separately.
Types and features of industrial air conditioners
VRF systems
This is an industrial system that includes a maximum of 64 indoor units and no more than 3 external units. Communication between them can reach a length of 300 meters. For each of the indoor units, you can set a separate temperature and create an individual microclimate.
Chiller systems
The key difference with this system is the use of water or antifreeze instead of refrigerant. Has a central refrigeration machine and heat exchangers. The distance between them may not be limited, and the water flows through the pipes.
