How to brew coffee without a coffee pot and a coffee maker

A cup of coffeeMost people know how to make their favorite drink using a Turkish coffee pot, coffee maker or capsule devices. What to do if there are simply no coffee makers at this moment?

It is permissible to brew a full-fledged drink without a Turk or coffee maker. This coffee, created using non-standard methods, will not be inferior to the traditional method. It is important to follow the main coffee rules and improve your own skills.

Cook on the stove in another container

An enamel container is suitable for cooking: a saucepan, a ladle, a stewpan. The enamel coating will prevent the loss of aroma. You cannot take aluminum cookware. Light metal will “kill” the taste and smell when heated; only copper utensils retain the properties of the coffee drink.

You need to prepare the pan:

  • Coffee brewed in a saucepanRinse with baking soda and rinse thoroughly. If there is no soda, rinse with hot water, then cold. Such actions will remove the smell of the pan. Do not use simple dishwashing detergents; their presence is difficult to get rid of. Traces of detergents spoil the taste of tea and coffee, so it is not recommended to wash teapots and coffee pots with soap and similar products, only with baking soda and water.
  • Heat the pan by boiling a small amount of water in it.
  • Pour out hot water and wipe dry with a clean towel. The container is ready.

For the drink, take coarse or medium grind coffee, 2 teaspoons per serving.

Pour the required amount into the pan, add water at the rate of 150–170 ml per serving. By pouring the powder with cold, unboiled water, we get a drink of enhanced strength. More caffeine will be transferred into the water due to the duration of heating.

By pouring ground coffee with already heated water, but not boiling, we will achieve soft strength and a strong aroma.

Place on the stove, turn on low heat. Don't try to speed up the process; getting the perfect drink takes time. Heat carefully, do not disturb, maintain the integrity of the foam. As soon as the foam begins to rise, remove from heat and let stand for 1.5–2 minutes. Put it back on the fire and continue heating until the foam rises. Repeat the warm-up cycle 3 times, this will be enough.

Turn off the heat, cover the pan with a lid and let the drink brew for 3–7 minutes, the holding time depends on the volume of water. The drink is carefully poured into heated cups without shaking the grounds; you can use a fine strainer to remove the coffee grounds. Served black, sugar, cream, milk are served separately, preferences and tastes vary.

Brew coffee in a cup

CoffeeThe cup for brewing is made of ceramic, with thick walls. Coffee does not like temperature changes, so the container for preparing the drink must keep warm. Earthenware and pottery ceramics are the most suitable containers for maintaining a constantly high temperature of the drink.

Take finely ground coffee, at the rate of 1 tablespoon per 160–170 ml of water.

Warm up the cup by pouring almost boiling water into it, pour it out and wipe dry. Put the ground powder there. In a kettle or other container, bring water to a boil, but do not boil.

Important! Coffee should not be burned with boiling water.

Pour water into the cup in a thin stream in a circular motion in a spiral, from the center to the edges. By pouring coffee powder in this way, you can watch how the drink “blooms”, creating a gorgeous foam. Sprinkle a little sugar on top and cover the cup. Leave to infuse for 2-5 minutes according to taste and desire. During this time, large particles of grounds will settle to the bottom.

It's easy to make coffee in the microwave. Warm up the cup, wipe dry, add finely ground coffee. Fill with water and put in the microwave. Turn on the heat and watch the coffee foam. As soon as the foam begins to rise, stop heating.

Let the drink brew for 1.5–2 minutes; to improve the strength, heating can be repeated up to 3 times. Don't heat it any more, the aroma will disappear.

Important points in brewing coffee without a Turk and a coffee maker

Foam in coffeeA water temperature of 100 degrees is not suitable for making drinks; boiling water will burn off the taste and aroma.

Prolonged and repeated heating, more than 3 times, will make the aroma poor. To enhance the strength of the drink, add more ground raw materials, select your own quantity.

Hot drinks are served in hot containers, so pour the finished drink into warm cups.

Drink freshly prepared coffee, there is an opinion that green beans can be stored for up to 10 years, properly roasted - no more than 1 month, ground - 3 days, prepared drink - 20 minutes.

Brown sugar is a wonderful companion for coffee, adding to the drink will enrich its taste. White sugar, due to its refinement, is not so good, but it is also used to obtain a “soft” sweet drink.

A little sugar sprinkled on the surface of the film of coffee in a mug or pan will speed up the settling of the coffee grounds to the bottom.

More ways to brew coffee

Filter coffeeFiltered coffee in a glass. You will need: a tall glass, a mug or a jar, other thick-walled drinkware, a paper coffee filter, tasty water and a funnel of a suitable size. The coffee filter should fit comfortably in the funnel.

Full-fledged coffee is obtained only from freshly roasted beans. To prepare the drink, you will need to grind “coarse sugar”; no need to make fine powder. We build a structure for brewing: a container, place a funnel on top, insert a filter. We warm up the structure by pouring hot water through a paper filter and funnel into a container. Wet the filter in a circular motion. After a minute, pour the water out of the jar.

Pour ground coffee into a funnel with a wet filter, you need to take about 14 grams per 250 ml. Carefully pour the coffee with water heated to a temperature of 95 degrees. A film is formed on high-quality raw materials, the “color” of the drink. Filling time is no more than 2–3 minutes.

Gradually the coffee will filter out and flow into the mug. The result is a flavorful drink that you can enjoy right away. Add sugar to the coffee to taste, preferably brown, milk, cream, sprinkle with grated chocolate or decorate with a cap of whipped cream.
