How to install Skype on smart TV: Samsung TV and other models

Skype on smart TV allows you to communicate via video with anyone, and the image can be displayed on a large screen. Thanks to this, the effect of presence is created, and the conversation takes place in a more comfortable atmosphere. The program is not available on all models, so it is useful to learn how to install Skype on Smart TV. This is exactly what will be discussed in this article.

On Samsung

Skype is not available on Samsung TVs of newer models. Moreover, free installation is possible only for devices of the H, F and E series. To install, you must proceed as follows:

1. Check if Skype is pre-installed. If available, first remove the program.
2. Reboot the system by turning it off for a few seconds directly from the outlet. Then stick the plug in again.
3. Insert the flash drive with the already downloaded program and find the file to run with the “exe” extension. Its name must contain the word “Install”.
4. Next, you need to go through all the stages of installing Skype on TV, agreeing to the terms and conditions if necessary.
5. After the program icon appears on the screen, click on it, specify your password, login and log into your account.

It also happens that users have a model that belongs to group “H”. In this case, the program is installed through an already installed application called “Smart Hub”.

If the model belongs to group “E”, you must also insert a USB flash drive, but not only into the switched off device. After this, turn on the TV again and wait until the “Samyco” icon appears.

On LG

It’s clear how to install Skype on a Samsung TV. Installation on other devices is approximately the same. For example, on an LG model the program is installed using the following procedure:

1. Turn off the TV, turn off the power and turn on after a few seconds.
2. Download Skype to a flash drive in advance and insert it into USB.
3. Go to the Smart TV section.
4. Launch the application installation file, follow the prompts at each stage.

On Philips

Skype on Philips TV is pre-installed only on new models. Moreover, installing new applications is also impossible - this can only be done through the search bar in the browser. The sequence of actions is the same as in the case of downloading to a PC or laptop:

1. Enter “download Skype” into the search engine.
2. Go to the official website and download the required file.
3. Launch it and accept the terms of the agreement.
4. Go through all the steps and wait until the shortcut appears on the screen.

On Sony

In the case of Sony, a TV with Skype is also not provided, but installing the software is quite possible - there are 2 ways to do this:

1. Download and move the file to a USB flash drive, then insert it into the TV and install as described above.
2. Launch through a browser on the TV itself, as is the case with Philips.

After installation, you will need to connect the camera. To do this, configure the driver via a laptop or PC. The device is connected to the TV via USB. Immediately after this, you can try to make a test call, adjusting the image and sound.
