How to use electronic scales

Electronic balanceRegular weight measurement is the prerogative of not only those losing weight, but also people who closely monitor their health. Initially, everyone used mechanical devices, whose operating principle was based on measuring the effect on a spring. Although they do not require power and do not depend on the proximity of electrical appliances, they still soon fail as the spring loses its elasticity.

The invention of floor scales made it possible to obtain more accurate results. It makes sense to measure kilograms every day, since now the slightest weight gain and plumb lines have become visible. This significantly increased the number of their purchases, which contributed to the expansion of the market.

Functions of electronic bathroom scales

The main function is accurate weight measurement. In the electronic version, it is based on changes in the deformation of the platform under the mass of a person. They are installed on special legs, and under the influence of gravity the platform frame is deformed. This is invisible to the human eye, but the data is analyzed using several resistance readings (usually three).

IMPORTANT. The sensors are firmly glued into the device, so disassembling it is not recommended.

Peculiarities

In addition to the principle of operation, electronic scales differ from mechanical scales by their error. Depending on the model, it varies in the range of 0.1-0.5 kg. There are more accurate options, but they are also high in cost, while changing hundredths of weight does not make much sense when tracking the dynamics of body weight.

Electronic balanceDue to the popularity of use, the device is made in various designs, allowing it to be advantageously integrated into the overall look of the room. Often the top panel is roughened or ribbed to reduce slippage. Some models specifically mark where you need to place your feet to get the most accurate readings. To expand the areas where the device can be used, many manufacturers produce moisture-resistant and waterproof models, which allows them to be safely installed in bathhouses and spas.

How to use it correctly

To weigh correctly, it is important to pay attention to two things:

  • device location;
  • a person's appearance.

Correct installation plays a major role in accurate weighing. When weighing with electronic scales, they must be placed on a flat, hard surface. Installation on carpet products may result in an error of up to ten percent. Some precision scales also give poor results on linoleum. It is best to place the device on a tile or, if there is none, on a stable stool.

Before weighing, it is recommended to remove all jewelry and heavy items of clothing: shoes, sweaters, pants, etc.Don't forget that measuring with wet hair is even more useless than weighing on a carpet (depending on the volume of your hair, this can add several kilograms to your actual weight).

Precautionary measures

Since the scale is an electronic device, you should only stand on it with dry feet. This will also prevent you from slipping.

Sustainability also directly affects the safety of their use. If your weight is not distributed correctly, it is very easy to lose your balance and fall.

Additional functions of electronic scales

Many floor-standing electronic devices now, in addition to accurate measurement (usually up to 0.1 kg), have acquired a good list of additional functions. The most common among them are:

  1. Filled scalesDisplay backlight.
  2. Remote control.
  3. Automatic shutdown (which greatly saves battery power).
  4. Difference in weighing units.
  5. Musical accompaniment.
  6. Determination of the percentage of fat and muscle tissue (using a transmitted electrical signal).
  7. Clock, thermometer, stadiometer.
  8. Storing information about the dynamics of changes for several users.
  9. User identification (with regular measurements).
  10. Audible warning of sudden weight changes.
  11. BMI calculation, etc.

IMPORTANT. Using the fat and muscle tissue measurement function is not recommended for pregnant women and is strictly prohibited for people with pacemakers.

This functionality is still unlimited, as many manufacturing companies in the competitive race are adding more and more new functions.
