How to properly wash an electric grill
It is necessary to wash after each cooking to prevent residues from sticking to the grate. The cleaning method is selected depending on the type of electric grill:
- Grill pan;
- classic version with metal grille.
Before cleaning, the device should be disconnected from the electrical network.
In the first case, washing the electric grill is absolutely easy, like any frying pan. To do this, you will need any alkaline degreaser for dishes.
Reference! You can purchase a special grill degreaser for cleaning.
The grill pan, cleaned of food residues, must be filled with detergent for 30-60 minutes, then washed thoroughly with a sponge.
Metal grates can be cleaned with:
- vegetable oil;
- a solution of detergent with the addition of salt and soda.
The first method can be used effectively if food residues were not removed immediately after preparing the dish. In this case, the electric grill is washed before cooking.
The cleaning process using vegetable oil consists of several stages:
- heat the grill and wait until the food remains turn black, then scrape them off;
- Use a special grill brush to quickly clean the grate;
- grease the grill with vegetable oil using a paper towel and quickly clean it;
- close the lid and preheat the grill for a few minutes before cooking.
Important! The paper should be saturated, but not oversaturated with oil, otherwise it will start to drip, which can lead to smoke.
After oiling, the grate becomes clean and shiny, and the prepared dish will not stick to it.
You can wash the grill in another way using detergent, baking soda and salt. To do this you need:
- mix dishwashing detergent with a small amount of soda, quickly clean the grate from grease with a sponge;
- Cover areas without a non-stick layer with a paste of detergent, soda, salt and a small amount of water. Leave for 10-20 minutes, then clean with a metal sponge;
- Wipe the work surface with an aqueous solution of vinegar at the rate of 2 tablespoons per 1 glass of water.
Attention! Vinegar will help remove residual odors from cooked dishes (this is especially true for fish and seafood).
How to clean an electric grill with fixed panels
Electric grills are divided into two types:
- with fat receiver;
- without fat receiver.
If the model is equipped with a grease trap, which is located under the grill, then it is cleaned first. This requires:
- remove it from the grill;
- free from oil and fat;
- rinse well with an alkaline degreaser;
- dry.
A grill with non-removable panels is washed in several stages:
- Use a paper towel to wipe off any remaining grease and oil under the grate if there is no grease trap;
- wipe the grate with a sponge using a special grill cleaner or adding soda, salt and vinegar;
- Fixed panels are washed with the same composition, which also gets oil and grease;
Wipe the grill dry with a soft cloth.
How to clean a device with removable panels
Devices with removable panels differ in the technique of removing the panels.
Important! To properly remove the panels without damaging the electric grill, you must read the instructions for the device.
For washing this type of grill, the same rules apply as for models with fixed panels.
It is not recommended to wash removable panels under a strong stream of running water to avoid damaging the contacts. All elements of the device must be thoroughly dried, then put the electric grill in a box so that dust does not collect on it.
How not to wash an electric grill
A few rules on what not to do to avoid damaging your equipment. So, you can't:
- wash the device that is not disconnected from the electrical network;
- wash the entire device under running water to avoid liquid getting under the body, which can lead to damage to the main parts of the grill;
- use abrasive powders and metal sponges, which can damage the non-stick coating of the grate;
- drain the fat-oil mixture from the grease receiver into the sink to avoid clogging the siphon. To do this, you can use a bag, which can then be thrown into the trash;
- Do not clean the electric grill after each cooking.
There is no need to neglect advice and recommendations. If you wash your electric grill correctly, the device will last much longer.
