What is hydrolysis cleaning in the oven?

Before and after hydrolysis cleaningIt is difficult to imagine the life of a modern housewife without household appliances. But caring for it can cause a lot of trouble. Using the oven you can easily prepare a delicious dinner in a short time, however, it is not so easy to wash off drops of burnt fat.

Fortunately, kitchen appliance manufacturers are trying to simplify this process as much as possible and periodically come up with new functions for self-cleaning ovens. One such method is hydrolysis purification.

REFERENCE: Hydrolysis is a chemical reaction of the interaction of a substance with water, during which the decomposition of this very substance occurs.

That is, such cleaning is the process of cleaning the internal surfaces of the oven from grease and other substances using water vapor, which is formed at a temperature of about 50–90°. This is one of the very first oven cleaning methods, which was used by our grandmothers.

How to hydrolyze an oven

The process is simple:

  • Pour waterPour some water (about 0.5 l) into a deep tray and add cleaning agent to it. Place the baking tray at the bottom of the oven. Models with a built-in function already have functional water recesses at the bottom of the oven;
  • We set the temperature at 50-90 °C, if there is a built-in function, the temperature is set automatically;
  • Leave in working condition for 30 minutes;
  • Turn off the oven and let cool;
  • Use a sponge or rag to remove any remaining dirt; you may need to use additional cleaning agents;
  • If necessary, repeat the procedure.

Automatic cleaning functions in ovens

Some modern oven models are already equipped with a hydrolysis cleaning function. These ovens automatically set the temperature depending on the material of the internal surfaces.

Manufacturers distinguish between several functions. Let's look at them in more detail:

Clearning system. In such a system, the heating temperature of the oven does not exceed 90 ° C; the internal contaminated surfaces are pre-treated with a special spray. Cleaning time 15 minutes.

Clearning is found in models such as Maunfeld EOEM 589S1, AskoOCS8456S and others.

Aqua clean system. It has become more widely used due to its affordability. The oven heats up to a temperature of 50 °C. First, 500 ml of water is poured into the functional recess in the lower part. Cleaning time 30 minutes.

Aqua clean is presented by such manufacturers as: Gorenje - in models BO635E11W, BO 73 CLI, BO 53 CLI, BO 75 SY2W; HOTPOINT/ARISTON - model FA2 841 JH BL HA.

Automatic hydrolysis cleaning functionThe Aqua clean function is quite common. Today it can be found from other manufacturers in other models. The price of ovens with the Aqua clean function from retail stores of household appliances starts from 25 thousand rubles.

ATTENTION! With both methods, after hydrolysis cleaning, you need to remove residual fat and carbon deposits from the internal surfaces of the oven using a sponge or soft cloth.

Advantages and disadvantages

Main advantages:

  • Price.The cost of an oven with this function is significantly lower compared to other cleaning systems, such as pyrolytic or catalytic. The level of energy consumption with such a system is also relatively small;
  • Ease of use. Any housewife can master this easy cleaning method without any problems;
  • No aggressive detergents. During hydrolysis, no “harsh” chemicals are used, which means there is no harm to health.

Flaws:

  • Wiping the oven after hydrolysis cleaningThe hydrolysis system cannot be called a self-cleaning system. In any case, it is necessary to additionally wash and wipe the internal surfaces of the oven.
  • Also, the system will not help get rid of dried grease on the cabinet door; you will also have to wash it yourself;
  • If it is heavily soiled, it will be necessary to carry out the cleaning procedure repeatedly or wash the oven mechanically.
