Types of teapots

Types of teapotsThe kettle is one of the main attributes of the kitchen. Without exception, it is found in every home, and if earlier the samovar was the center of tea drinking, now the teapot has taken its place. It would seem that there is nothing easier than choosing this technique, but when you enter the store, you involuntarily get lost. There is such a large selection that before settling on any one model, it is worth carefully studying the pros and cons of each variety.

What types of teapots are there?

Just recently it was in great demand metal kettle. It is still used to heat and boil water on electric or gas stoves. It can be enameled or chrome-plated; aluminum models are less common. Often a whistle is installed on their spouts, powered by a jet of steam. The whistle warns that the water has boiled and it’s time to turn off the burner.

brewing The kettle appeared a long time ago. China is considered to be its homeland. It was in the Celestial Empire that they came up with the idea of pouring tea leaves and steeping them in boiling water. In Europe, and then in Russia, this household item appeared only in the 16th century. Teapots are most often found in ceramic, porcelain, glass and clay.

Electric The teapot is the most common one these days. It operates from the mains and, in standard models, is equipped with an automatic shut-off device when boiling. Modern technologies allow you to turn this device on and off via the Internet using your smartphone. The first electric kettles looked like ordinary aluminum ones and were equipped with a spiral in the body and a wire with a plug. They turned on and off manually - you just had to insert the plug into the socket.

Lovers of outdoor recreation will appreciate camping a hanging kettle that hangs by the handle over the fire.

Types of electric kettles

Electric kettlesElectric kettles are in greatest demand among Russian consumers. You can find many varieties of them in household appliance stores. They differ not only in price. There is a huge selection of different colors, shapes, and materials.

Electric kettles are produced in plastic, glass, or stainless steel casings. Electrical appliances made of ceramics are becoming increasingly popular.

ATTENTION! Glass and ceramic products are considered the most environmentally friendly, since when these materials are heated, harmful impurities do not enter the water.

Of the additional functions, in addition to automatic shutdown when boiling, the most popular are: the presence of an anti-scale filter, overheating protection, backlight, and lid lock.

With open spiral

Devices of this type were the very first to appear on the market. An open chrome-plated spiral is installed as a heating element. The body and stand are, in most cases, made of plastic. Electric kettles with such a water heating system are not equipped with additional functions other than automatic shutdown. It is impossible to boil a small amount of water in them, since the spiral must be completely immersed in water (based on the principle of a boiler); they are not very convenient to wash. The main advantage of these devices is their affordable cost.

Disk

Disc electric kettleIn this case, a stainless steel disk is used as a heating element. Electrical contacts are connected to it, and when the device is turned on, the heating element starts working. This group of electric kettles also includes devices with a closed spiral heating element hidden under a disk. Their body is made of plastic, stainless steel, glass or ceramics. The connection to the stand is due to a recess in the center. Disc electric kettles are one of the most popular today. Although they are slightly more expensive than open-coil units, they last longer, are easier to maintain, and come in a variety of designs.

Thermopots

ThermopotThermopot is a hybrid of an electric kettle and a thermos. The thermopot boils water and does not allow it to cool, maintaining the desired temperature all the time. The heating element in it is a disk or a closed spiral. A special thermal insulation housing prevents the water from cooling. Often such devices produce large volumes, on average about 4 liters, so for convenient water supply, manufacturers equipped them with a pump. Thermal pots are equipped with on and off timers, liquid volume indicators, safety valves, and are supplemented with a self-cleaning function and others. All these options form the cost of the product. This device will cost more than a regular electric kettle.

With thermostat

An electric kettle with a thermostat is similar in its purpose to a thermopot. The difference lies in the way the temperature is maintained. If the thermopot supports it with the help of a heat-insulating body, then in the electric kettle the thermostat periodically, as the water cools, gives a command to turn on the device. The main advantage of such a kettle can be considered heating to a user-specified temperature, because to brew some types of tea you do not need to boil water. The main disadvantage is the high power consumption and the possibility of failure due to constant switching on and off of the device.
