Irrigator – what is it, how does it work?

An irrigator is an electric device for oral hygiene; the device cleans teeth from plaque and rinses the gaps between teeth and gums, removing pieces of food from there. This happens by supplying a stream of water or other liquid.

The irrigator has a special motor that pumps water/liquid and is powered by a battery or battery (power supply, if it is a stationary device). Liquid is poured into the irrigator reservoir - filtered water, disinfectants, deodorants or medicinal products for the oral cavity. The motor pumps it up and feeds it into the handle hose. The handle has a working head through which the jet comes out. Liquid is supplied either continuously or at intervals. It is possible to regulate the power, speed and pressure of the jet. The product penetrates into the cracks between teeth and gums and washes out all the dirt.

Review of the WI-911 irrigator from B.Well

B.Well WI-911 is a portable irrigator for cleaning the oral cavity. The unit is small in size and light weight, so it is convenient to take it with you on trips. The model belongs to pulse devices. Pulse irrigators are considered the most effective. They supply water in pulses/intervals. This method of liquid supply cleans up to 99.7% of contaminants in a matter of seconds. The capacity of the device is not as large as that of stationary models, but it is more than enough. The body is one whole handle. The device is comfortable to hold in a medium-sized hand. The power is adjusted in three modes: standard/normal, soft/soft for people with sensitive teeth and gums, pulse/pulse to massage the gums. The device comes with two standard attachments that can be used to clean teeth and braces. Not suitable for cleaning the tongue. WI-911 is also suitable for cleaning braces. The working head rotates 360 degrees. The manufacturer determined this by ease of use. The lithium-ion battery lasts for 4 weeks when using the irrigator once a day. The device comes with an AC adapter for charging the device anywhere. The water tank is separated from the main body. You can pour water into it in two ways - vertically and horizontally. Classic, pleasing design, reminiscent of medical equipment. There are three buttons on the body - one for removing/installing the attachment, the second for turning on the device and the third for selecting a mode. The connector for charging the irrigator is protected by a rubber insert.

Instructions for use of the B.Well WI-911 irrigator

If your unit has not been used for a long time, it is recommended to wipe, rinse and dry it.

  1. First you need to fill the tank with water or other suitable liquid. To do this, either disconnect it from the main body and pour liquid from above, or open the side cover of the reservoir and pour liquid through it. Put the device back together.
  2. Place the nozzle on the waterpik and place it in your mouth. Turn on the device by pressing the on/off button. Choose the mode that suits you.
  3. Hold the tip 1 cm away from the surface of your teeth/gums. Try to ensure that the stream of water hits the teeth strictly perpendicularly.
  4. If you wear braces, you will need to clean them first. Also start from the end, moving towards the center along the wire, stopping at each lock. Then move on to the teeth themselves.
  5. Start brushing the back teeth (molars), slowly moving towards the front teeth. You need to stay on each tooth for 2 seconds. Thoroughly rinse the interdental spaces and crevices between the teeth and gums. You need to wash your teeth on each side.
  6. After you have finished using the irrigator, turn off the device. Spit out the water that has accumulated in your mouth and drain the remaining liquid from the device. This is done to prevent bacteria from multiplying in it.
  7. Rinse the nozzle and liquid container. Wipe them or turn on the device for a few seconds to dry it.

User reviews of the WI-911 irrigator from B.Well

67% of users in their reviews on Yandex.Market and Rozetka rate this irrigator positively. The main complaints of 33% of the remaining users are related to low quality of assembly/materials, frequent defects, defects and problems with the battery (it burns out after a month of use, and service centers refuse to accept devices under warranty; the selling store also does nothing).

To such reviews, consultants respond that the battery can “burn out” if water gets on the board. This is usually due to you holding the waterpik too close to your teeth. Because of this, part of the water jet returns inside the device and hits the board, causing it to short out and the device to fail. Since such a breakdown is classified as improper use of the equipment, the warranty does not apply to it. If you replace the battery but do not clean the board, it may turn on/off on its own.
