Pumping station - what is it, its purpose. Methods of water supply at home
Residents of private houses and summer cottages suffer from insufficient water supply. The autonomous system is not enough to supply a residential building, vegetable garden, or garden. There are three ways to provide water to a room:
- The pump is connected to the consumer
- Storage tank and pump
- Pumping station with hydraulic accumulator
In the first case, the pump pumps water from the source, but its power is often not enough, so the pressure in such a system is usually low.
In the second case, the pump pumps water from the source into a separate container, from where it is used by the consumer under pressure. The disadvantage of such systems is their long operation.
Let's look at the third method in detail.
A pumping station is a set of devices, a system for supplying water to a room. The pumping station increases the pressure in the pipeline.
Design and principle of operation of the pumping station
A classic pumping station with a hydraulic accumulator consists of 5 parts:
- Hydraulic accumulator
- Centrifugal pump
- Electric motor
- Pressure gauge
- Pressure switch
Some models additionally include a filter to protect the device from sand, silt, rust and other contaminants.
The electric motor is connected directly to the pump by a shaft. The pump is connected by a pipeline to a water supply pipe, a water outlet pipe and a hydraulic accumulator. Also connected to the pipes is a pressure gauge to measure the pressure inside the pipes and a pressure switch.
How does a pumping station work?
An electric motor rotates the pump. The pump pumps water from the source. Water fills the entire volume of the system - the internal volume of the pump, the pipes between the pump and the consumer, the internal volume of the hydraulic accumulator. The hydraulic accumulator consists of a housing, a membrane of an air area and an area for water. The liquid fills the internal volume of the accumulator by a third and begins to put pressure on the membrane, compressing the gas inside. Gas is pumped in at the plant. The gas itself puts pressure on the water and tries to push it out. The pump pumps water into the system all this time. To turn off the pump, a relay is installed in the station; it is installed near the motor and a water outlet pipe is connected to it. The device consists of two springs/pistons, contacts, a membrane and a flange. The liquid fills the flange with the membrane and presses on the latter. When it presses hard enough on the membrane, the latter presses on the piston, which opens the contacts - electricity does not go to the motor, the pump stops pumping water.
You open the tap - the accumulator membrane pushes out water, its quantity in the system decreases, and the pressure decreases. The liquid does not press enough on the relay membrane, the piston lowers, and the contacts close - electricity is supplied to the motor, and the pump turns on. It pulls water from the source into the system until the pressure rises again to open the contacts.
Rating of the best pumping stations for the home with characteristics
