Types and sizes of modular paintings
First of all, you need to understand what modular paintings are. As you can see in the photo, these are compositions from several paintings. Moreover, in general, they form a common canvas, that is, one drawing, but it consists of several modules. Depending on their quantity, several types are distinguished:
- The minimum number of modules is 2 – this is a diptych.
- If the image consists of 3 parts - a triptych.
- 4 parts – quadriptych.
- 5 parts or more - polyptych.
The sizes of modular paintings can be different. Typically, parts located symmetrically have the same dimensions. For example, as can be seen in the diagram, the polyptych has a central element with dimensions of 70 * 135 cm. The two modules closest to it are 25 * 57.5 cm, and the 2 ones on the left and right are 25 * 42 cm.
However, this does not always happen - in some cases the fragments differ greatly from each other in size. In essence, the result is an asymmetrical composition that looks no less original than a symmetrical one.
We can say about modular paintings that this is an image that is applied in oil to canvas and subsequently cut into several parts. There are other production technologies:
- rolling batik with a pattern onto the glass surface;
- canvas made of natural leather or substitute;
- thread embroidery;
- decoration with beads, beads;
- decoration using decorative ribbons.
If we talk about what kind of modular paintings there are, we can mention other types depending on their location on the walls:
- Horizontal is the most common classic option.
- Vertical - modules go one below the other along a conventional vertical line. This design method allows you to visually increase the height of the ceiling.
- Square (puzzle) – the fragments are arranged in such a way that the result is a square. Any material can be used for modular paintings of this type. But for the image to look beautiful, it is necessary that there are no other paintings next to it.
- Steps or ladders are original compositions of several identical fragments, which are arranged in the form of steps going up or down.
- The description of modular paintings also includes irregular (asymmetrical) compositions from fragments of the same size or different ones.
Recommendations for choosing modular paintings
It is clear that modular paintings are an original way to decorate an apartment, house or office. In order for it to fit well into the interior and become a real business card, it is recommended to pay attention to the advice of designers. You need to select a painting first of all, taking into account the purpose, size and design of the room:
- One of the important criteria is the image, that is, what the modular picture looks like.Most often, floral motifs or light abstraction are chosen. If the drawing is complex and is also divided into several fragments, it will not look so clear and bright.
- When choosing an image for a bedroom interior, you should choose calm tones and motifs that create a feeling of comfort and tranquility. Even without knowing everything about modular paintings, it’s easy to guess that landscapes, lyrical portraits, and images in pastel colors are suitable for the bedroom.
- In the children's room, images of animals, cartoon characters or drawings in bright colors are placed. They take into account age and gender characteristics, as well as the general interior of the room. One of the original options is to order a photo collage of children's photographs. On the other hand, you can also use contrasting patterns, as shown below.
- It is not necessary to know what modular paintings are made of. It is much more important to choose the optimal combination in terms of palette and size. For example, in the hall you can use large paintings consisting of several modules - quadriptych, polyptych and others. Or you can use a triptych, as in the photo, from large fragments.
- Bright images in warm colors are usually chosen for the kitchen. Often these are landscapes or simply “tasty” scenes - fruits, vegetables, dishes. If you study what modular paintings are made of, then you can choose almost any product for the kitchen. Even inexpensive images will look beautiful if they are in harmony with the overall interior.
Thus, you can choose a variety of types of modular paintings. Since this is not wallpaper, the material itself is not particularly important. It is important to consider the number of fragments and the design of the room. The dimensions of the modules of modular paintings also play a certain role.They should be such that they can be placed freely on the wall, especially taking into account the shelves and adjacent pictures.
